DASH the Downtown Area Shuttle
The Downtown Area Shuttle, or DASH, is a system of small buses connecting key downtown Grand Rapids locations and parking lots. DASH is free to ride and provides residents, workers and visitors convenient connections to all parts of the core of downtown Grand Rapids. This service is made possible by the City of Grand Rapids and operated by The Rapid.
Free DASH routes run every 8 minutes from Monday through Sunday:
Monday - Wednesday
6:30 a.m. - 10:30 p.m.
Thursday - Friday
6:30 a.m. - 1:00 a.m.
10:00 a.m. - 1:00 a.m.
10:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.

The Grand Rapids Autonomous Vehicle Initiative (AVGR), powered by the City of Grand Rapids and various partners, brings four electric May Mobility shuttles to downtown streets. The six-seat shuttles are here through summer 2020. The shuttles are self-driving. However, they’ll always have a “driver” when they’re on our streets.
This initiative helps us understand how autonomous vehicles work in a variety of weather conditions. It also helps us better define accessibility standards for autonomous vehicles.
The shuttles will ride along our DASH West route, which provides access to:
- West Side
- Heartside Business District
- Tuesday – Friday 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.
- Saturday – 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.
