The Rapid Offering Free Rides for Veterans on Sunday and Monday

The Rapid will be offering free rides for veterans on Sunday (Veterans Day) and Monday (Veterans Day observed). To ride for free, passengers would have to show one of the following: DD214 card/form, Veteran ID card, or VFW membership card. 

The Rapid is joining with other transit systems across the country in an effort sponsored by the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) to acknowledge and thank our country’s veterans.

“The Rapid and its employees salute the veterans in our community and thank them for their service,” said Peter Varga, CEO of The Rapid. “We are also honoring our veterans that do great work every day at The Rapid by recognizing them on our Facebook page.”

“Nationally, our industry is seeking to hire veterans, many of whom have skills that match jobs in the public transportation industry,” said APTA President and CEO Michael Melaniphy.  “We encourage veterans across the country to explore job opportunities at their local public transportation system.  The skills that veterans have learned in the military may very well be transferable to a variety of jobs at a public transit system or a business that is part of the public transportation supply chain.”
