The Rapid Introduces New Bus Graphics

On Wednesday, August 30, The Rapid unveiled its new look for fixed route buses. Initially, there will be 14 buses sporting the new graphics.

[IMAGE '6' /]"Over the next few years, we will be replacing 60 buses, or more than half of the fleet," said Peter Varga, Executive Director and CEO of The Rapid. "By timing this change in look to coincide with the bus replacement schedule, we are able to upgrade our image in a very cost-effective way. Future buses will be ordered with the new graphics, so over time, the new look will predominate. Eventually, the red, blue, and yellow stripes of today's buses will be gone."

The new design brings consistency between Rapid Central Station's platform canopy and the look and feel of the buses. The graphics were designed by DDM Marketing & Communications (Grand Rapids, Mich.).

All 14 new buses will be in service by the end of September. They will operating on different routes throughout the service area. "As we go through this transition, passengers will see both styles of buses in service. Rest assured that operationally there is no difference. A Route 1 bus is a Route 1 bus, no matter what the color scheme," commented Varga.
