The Rapid is a leading example of local government cooperation and community-based decision making. The structure of our regional authority – a partnership of East Grand Rapids, Grand Rapids, Grandville, Kentwood, Walker and Wyoming openly working together – supports greater collaboration, effective use of taxpayer dollars and ultimately economic development through strategic public investment in essential transportation services. We believe the community supports and values such an effective united approach. Everyone agrees now is the time for our public institutions to work together to build a more vibrant, dynamic and prosperous metropolitan area.
