Here at The Rapid, we support programs around Grand Rapids that are environmentally conscious and benefit the community. We do our part by supporting bikers, the use of public transportation, carpool programs such as West Michigan Rideshare, and other activities that cut back on greenhouse gas emissions. We're excited to bring to your attention other Grand Rapids initiatives around sustainability and the environment.
The Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce launched A Partnership for a Sustainable Community, a sustainability program modeled after innovative programs in other U.S. cities. This program was established to focus the Grand Rapids business community on voluntary solutions that will preserve the environment and promote energy efficiency . This venture is a unique opportunity for Grand Rapids to garner recognition as a leader in the green movement that is taking place all over the country. The Partnership carries the dual goals of spurring economic growth and reducing regional greenhouse gas emissions.
