The city of Grand Rapids will reconstruct two rare historic cobblestone streets, including North Avenue, from Walnut Street to Cedar Street, and Trowbridge Street, from Clancy Avenue to Lafayette Avenue. Both are located in the Belknap Hill area north of downtown Grand Rapids. Built in 1913, the streets have been designated as historic by the Kent County Historic Preservation Society and the city of Grand Rapids Historic Preservation Commission. The project includes reconstructing the base, street, curb, gutter, and sidewalk, and some tree installation. The project cost is $897,270, including $583,225 in federal TE funds and $314,045 in matching funds from the city.

Congratulations to SMART who, in coordination with its community partners, will purchase and install bike racks at several locations in Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties. The intent is to provide communities with secure bike racks at locations away from bus routes for the convenience of SMART riders who also ride bikes. The project cost is $20,016, including $16,013 in federal TE funds and $4,003 in matching funds from SMART.
