The Public Transportation Tomorrow (PTT) Task Force, a group of community leaders, and The Rapid, with the assistance of transit planning and design firm DMJM Harris. Community input was consistently sought throughout the study process and was key to shaping the final report.
What is it?
The study analyzes ridership, possible routes and funding sources for a potential streetcar system.
What's the purpose?
Determine whether the benefits of a downtown Grand Rapids streetcar system will outweigh its costs, and if funding is available to construct the first leg of the system.
What's the status?
The feasibility report has been accepted by the PTT Task Force and the Rapid's Board. The Board will take the findings of the report and recommend next steps, including looking more closely at funding and operational models to find the right strategy for this project.
