New Monroe North DASH Service Starts Monday
A collaborative partnership between the Grand Rapids Downtown Development Authority, Grand Rapids Parking Services, and the Monroe North Tax Increment Finance Authority (TIFA) has created a new, free transit service in the Monroe North corridor.
The Rapid is pleased to announce a new Downtown Area Shuttle service in the Monroe North corridor: Monroe North DASH.
After hearing requests from the Monroe North Business Association for transit service in the corridor, The Rapid created a survey to gauge demand and current transit use by residents and employees in the Monroe North corridor. The Monroe North Business Association took the lead in distributing and collecting these surveys, and after demand was clearly demonstrated, the project began to move forward.
Funded by the Grand Rapids Downtown Development Authority, Grand Rapids Parking Services, and the Monroe North Tax Increment Finance Authority (TIFA), the Monroe North DASH service will connect residents, employees, and businesses in the Monroe North corridor to the Medical Mile and Grand Rapids' downtown core.
This service is a two-year pilot program, beginning Monday, December 10, and will run on weekdays.
