Irene:
When I think of using The Rapid, there’s a sense that we’re all in this together. That we come from different walks of life, different backgrounds, different cultures. That we have different privileges, different life experiences, but we’re all together.
That’s a lesson that I learn, I think again, every time that I take the bus. That sense of shared humanity is really powerful for me to remember.
I would hope that my son would learn how to connect with lots of different people. We want him to grow up in a community that’s diverse, and that’s healthy. I would hope that he would be able to use all the gifts that he has in a way that will make the world a better place to live.
It’s very humbling, and it also is inspiring to realize that none of us are really alone. And sometimes something as simple as stepping unto a bus, can easily remind me that I’m not alone - that we’re all apart of this community together, a part of this neighborhood, a part of this city, a part of this world. Together.

Cuando pienso en The Rapid, tengo la sensación de que estamos todos metidos en esto juntos. Que venimos de mundos diferentes, de contextos diferentes, de culturas diferentes. Que tenemos privilegios diferentes, experiencias y vidas diferentes, pero que estamos todos juntos.
Esta es una de las lecciones que he aprendido, me digo cada vez que subo al bus. Esa sensación de humanidad compartida es muy poderosa y se me ha quedado grabada.
Tengo la esperanza de que mi hijo aprenda a saber conectar con una gran cantidad de personas diferentes. Queremos que crezca en una comunidad plural y sana. Me gustaría que pudiera usar todos los regalos que tiene para que este mundo fuera un sitio mejor en el que vivir.
Es una lección de humildad, a la vez inspira a darse cuenta de que ninguno de nosotros estamos realmente solos. Y, a veces, algo tan sencillo como subir al bus puede recordarme que no estoy sola, que todos juntos somos parte de esta comunidad, parte de este vecindario, parte de esta ciudad, parte del mundo. Juntos.
