04.09.08: APTA's Youth Transit Summit
With the push to go green and reduce greenhouse gases, The Rapid is encouraging local high school juniors and seniors to participate in the American Public Transportation Association’s (APTA) first “Teening” Up for a Greener World Youth Summit, that will be held June 22-25, 2008 in Washington DC. This all expense paid youth summit will focus on the environmental benefits of public transportation, as well as how communities prosper with increased public transit services.
02.07.08: Rapid CEO Appointed to State Transportation Funding Task Force
The newly-created task force will examine current transportation funding and identify alternative strategies.
01.25.08: Streetcar Study Route Finalized
The Public Transportation Tomorrow Taskforce voted to select a specific route for the study.
01.24.08: Proposed August Service Improvements
Review the changes proposed to go into effect in August 2008.
11.06.07: Information Center Open on Saturdays
Beginning November 10, the Information Center in Rapid Central Station will be open for walk-up service and telephone inquiries.
10.01.07: New Smoking Policy
As of October 1, 2007, The Rapid has changed its smoking policy.
09.28.07: APTA Releases a New Study
The most powerful weapon you can use to combat global climate change may be a daily transit pass, according to a new study that was released today by the American Public Transportation Association (APTA). The study, Public Transportation’s Contribution to U.S. Greenhouse Gas Reduction, was prepared for APTA by Science Applications International Corporation.
09.11.07: Change to Picture IDs by September 30
The Rapid is moving to new picture IDs for all reduced fare tickets. People that receive reduced fares must come to Rapid Central Station to get their new ID picture taken before the 30th.
