Maintenance Supervisor

The Rapid plays a key leadership role in our community by providing exceptional public transportation. We focus on customer service and safety. Your role as a Maintenance Supervisor will be challenging and rewarding.

The Rapid seeks an experienced individual with strong leadership, training, and supervisory skills to assist in the overall operation of its maintenance department, under the guidance of the Maintenance Manager. This position supervises approximately 8 to 10 diesel technicians.

In this safety-sensitive position, the candidate will provide supervision, training, and direct involvement with fleet repair or other operational needs, interviewing and assistance in the selection process of new employees, coordinating work activities with involved staff and outside contractors, inspections of completed work for specs and standards, schedule employee work hours and job assignments, enforce safety regulations, train staff to increase efficiency of work crew, resolve work problems or assist with solving problems, administer Collective Bargaining Agreement resolving disputes, grievances, and or employee complaints so as to minimize upper management involvement, and other related responsibilities.

Preferred candidates will have a Bachelors Degree from a four-year college or appropriate trade school and/or three (3) to five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in management of maintenance (auto/diesel) operation and three year’s experience at a journeyman level in vehicular repair trade in either heavy-duty vehicles and motorized equipment, or commercial transit equipment, or any combination thereof, which includes supervisory responsibilities. Demonstrated technical and mechanical aptitude with diesel equipment is desired. Must be able to obtain a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with B, P, and Air endorsements, and pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical and drug test. Candidate must be able to lift and or move up to 75 pounds. The selected candidate will work Sunday night through Thursday night from 10:00 p.m. until 7:00 a.m. plus weekend duty rotation.

The Rapid offers an excellent benefits package. Salary starts at $41,496. Salary range extends to $ 62,233. The Rapid wishes to fill this position as soon as possible.
